This blog has become such a therapeutic process for me. And I really have enjoyed the interaction and conversations it has sparked. Once I started writing, I knew I was hooked and wanted to continue this journey. And I did! I started writing all the time and it has been amazing. I have typed and said things I never thought I would. It has already helped me grow as a person in such a short time.
And then, in the same week, I started school again (Masters Degree in Business Management) and Girl Scout cookie season kicked off. Man, I’ll tell you what! This life of ours has been a tad on the cray cray side. And my time blogging has been cut short lately. I always see that internet meme that says, “Beyonce has the same 24 hours as the rest of us.” At first, it made me feel less than. She does have the same time in a day as me, doesn’t she? Then, I thought on it. Sure, her watch makes the same rounds mine does, but she has many different watches to split the time. Beyonce also has nannies, housekeepers, chefs, stylists, managers, representatives and all sorts of help! I’m not saying that’s wrong- she is a huge success. I have help too! The saying, “it takes a villiage,” rings true! We all need and want help. All I am conveying is that she definitely does not have the same 24 hours as me.
I wake up early with Jason to help him pack his lunch and get out the (motorhome) door as quietly as possible. Close quarters means easily waking children! Although the idea of Jay-Z and a sack lunch packed by the Queen B is something I would really like to think happens, I just don’t know. Anyways, some days, our wake up is as early as 3:10 am. Most the time, on these early overtime days, I am able to fall back asleep after a bit. Then, I wake up with the girls. Coffee, breakfast, more coffee, and if all comply- homeschool. Then lunch. Probably laundry, more coffee, and chores. Austyn goes down to nap around noon on most days. This saving grace gives Bentleigh some independent time where we do more school, or she gets some very rare technology usage! I use this time to precook dinner. I know, that sounds weird and redundant, BUT, our busiest time of the day is from 4:30-6:30 and when bedtime is at 7:30, I need to make sure dinner is prepared. If not, that means we are wasting money and time busting butt at the gym with fast food. Why is 4:30-6:30 our busiest time? Well, depending on the day of the week it is filled with gymnastics, girl scouts, Mom/Dad gym time, Mom’s airbrush tanning side gig, and any other last minute items of the day.
Have you ever put you child to bed, and then stayed in the room, getting things done? Do you think they’d sleep or probably be a bit distracted? Well, a motorhome is essentially one big room and my kids like to think the world stops when they fall asleep. Serious fear of missing out. So, to make bedtime smoother, I lay with them. After they’ve drifted off, it is my catch up time.
Catch up time now means I have to complete some school work, and as of lately, I am also entering in information regarding the 2,600 cookies I am in charge of. Also, around ten years ago, I kind of married this guy who I actually enjoy spending time with. This is our time to catch up and have uninterrupted adult conversation. So, usually, that means school, blogging, and cookie tasks are reserved for after the 10:00 hour. I am not some super overwhelmed mom that has more on her plate than the average. I am the average mom. Day in and out there are moms with just as much as me, and more, just trying to get it all done.
Moms, you all know that when you are feeling overwhelmed, what you need most is an hour to yourself to do what you enjoy. To recharge. Whatever that may be. A smart lady once told me to imagine I was in a garden. Taking my pitcher of water, I water every flower. Until, I had no water left for myself. Well, if I don’t take care of myself, who will water my flowers? Our most important job is caring for our families, but we most always take some time for ourselves.
So, tonight, I did a little homework and then decided to blog. It’s late. Tomorrow is an overtime day, so I need to be up in less than 4 hours. However, working on the million posts I have started and yet to finish will help recharge me through my day tomorrow!
I am so excited about the different blog posts in the works. I have started so many, from motorhome hacks, to homeschool info, life updates, guest blog spots, and everything in between. But, they’re no good if they are half finished ideas!
So, here’s to finishing my ideas, recharging my batteries, and finding the time to start and finish everything I want to accomplish.
